Fender Custom shop 63 Telecaster Cimarron Red

Product description

This unique Custom Shop 1963 Telecaster was custom ordered by Ulrich Sehl, Custom Shop Sales Manager of Fender Europe. In fact it was the first one he asked the Fender Custom Shop to build to his preferred specs.

This guitar’s wonderful Cimarron Red colour is quite unusual. It is a true vintage Fender custom colour though, first used in the 1950s, at the request of early Fender user Bill Carson. It came from the Cimarron Ballroom in Tulsa Oklahoma, where Carson often gigged. According to the Fender Stratocaster Book, Carson brought some actual paint from the ballroom so Fender could match the colour.

The cimarron red colour makes a great combination with the guitar’s 9mm AAA rosewood fretboard. The 5/4 quartersawn neck has a nice full 1969 “U”-profile, and it has a compound radius of 7.25” to 9.50”, combining a traditional vintage feel in the lower playing positions with a slightly more modern feel in the higher positions, making bending of notes way easier. On the back of the neck, the finish has been removed, providing you with a nice and smooth played-in feel.

The bridge pickup is a 1963 Tele Bridge Pickup, the neck is a Twisted Tele. The guitar has modern switching and an added Greasebucket circuit to the tone circuit. The vintage tele bridge has compensated Gatton saddles, combining vintage sound and response with upgraded intonation.
