The Fender Custom Shop Pro Series Stratocaster was introduced in 2007 as a modern workhorse for the professional player. But the "Pro" in its name not only means "Professional", it also stands for "Prototype".
In this series, that was only produced for two years, Fender used several state of the art specs and often requested mods, that were never before available on non-artist models. Some of these specs have become widespread and loved in the ten years since the production period of the series.
For example, the Custom Shop Pro Series Strat has a rounded-off "neck access heel" that was previously only available on the Jeff Beck signature Strat, but has later also been used on the (non-Custom Shop) American Deluxe series and the new 2017 American Professional Series. This great feature, in combination with the added 22nd fret, makes this a great guitar for players that like to use the upper register of the neck. Furthermore, the wider 12" radius makes string bending really easy.
The Custom Shop Pro series was also the first Custom Shop model to use the Greasebucket tone circuit, that rolls off the highs without losing gain or adding bass. It was developed for an artist model as well, and has been used in several other series after its introduction in the Custom Shop Pro line. The Greasebucket wiring makes sure that your tone stays loud and clear, even when rolling back the tone.
The Custom Shop Pro Strat is equipped with Samarium Cobalt Noiseless (SCN) pickups, that were also not offered in a Custom Shop model before, and that later became the standard pickups for the American Deluxe guitars. These pickups were developed to deliver tried-and-true Stratocaster sound with huge bite and no noise. They provide an incredible dynamic feel.
Last but not least, the Pro Series Strat features a Custom Shop-designed Custom Classic bridge, a two-point design milled from solid steel and featuring milled solid stainless steel saddles. This provides the player with great sustain and attack, especially on the lower notes. Tuning stability is great as well, also because of the Sperzel locking tuners and LSR roller nut.
This particular second hand Pro Series Stratocaster left the factory in June 2008 is finished in Closet Classic Black nitrocellulose lacquer. It was bought new in our store and was eventually traded in by its original owner. It is still in fantastic shape, with minimum playing wear, and it comes with its original case and paperwork.
